EARTH Day morning from The PF Palace - which has its final resident in place!
4/22/2022 :: Five hatches for 2022!
Quite early this morning the fifth egg hatched. This arrival completes a full week before the first and last hatch. This is the longest span in the history of the Rachel Carson State Office Building (RCSOB) nest site. 2022 is also only the third year (2006, 2009) that five eggs have hatched.
As the fifth and last to hatch, this specific youngster will likely be less developed and smaller than its hatch counterparts. This is typical, but also suggests that survival through fledging will be challenging. This is also a reminder that the prey brought back to the ledge will not be shared equally. The larger, stronger eyasses will get most of the food. This is not about fairness but an adaptation that insures the survival of at least one of the young.
From here on out, the young will grow remarkably fast! By the end of May, they will be featuring their first flight feathers and should be in full, juvenile plumage

Lord PF doing his best BATMAN imitation!
Yes Lady PF we can see the shell is empty - quite the challenge ahead for all -
It was a beautiful day - those in attendaance for GIG in Gettysburg had an incredible day - I spent too much time out doing some weeding etc prior to heading out for our 'venture - MUCH more to do - and that I could have done - but I did not want to taunt my back - but small steps - small steps =
Shortly before 11am, we headed - I first stopped at our mailbox so I could put out the paychecks headed for the termed / resigned associates at The GKP - the skEYE back over The Khottage as we backed out of the driveway was SO khool - so many lines in the blue skEYE - quite the tick tack toe game!
I parked The KhrossTrek next to this one when we made Stop #1 at RiteAid for MY shot -
Then the mile or so down the road for Stop #2 -
I did joke with The Vet Tech and The Vet that we were in the KHAT Suite -
Willow was 'good' but -
But we'll be going back next Saturday for MORE check up - with some medicinal assistance pre-visit -Willow was good - gobbled up all the treats - even a jar of baby food - but each time The Vet tried to move from interacting with her to examining her, the growly red flag when up - and since they are a Fear Free Focused practice - Dr Andrews - who we did have last year - who is one of the khool vets who thinks nothing of sitting on the floor for the visit didn't want to perhaps impact Willow's vet experience with the potential bad memories going forward - I trust her opinion on it - I mean Willow had no problems wanting to give her kisses and wiggle for her but each time Dr Andrews went to do some check up stuff, RED flag - so we left our green bag of poop - and left with anti anxiety meds - her records from last year's visit had included and captured her anxiety then - but since it was our first time together at The Vet - and only a month or so after she came to live at The Khottage, we didn't know what was 'normal' for her -
Of course, there MAY be more pictures we'll share tomorrow - along with Stop #3 for our 'venture!
Before we had headed out in the morning, I had stripped the bed and threw the sheets in the laundry - so our afternoon - after napping - included remaking the bed after putting on my new Dormeo Mattress Topper - I had seen SO much about them - and ALL of it good, I ordered one last weekend - and it arrived on Wednesday- I'll share my opinion on it as I have some zzzzzz's on it!
Today? A little more weeding - as I always say small steps small steps - then a quick trip to BJs and TSC to use a $10 off khoupon and some 4health Lamb&Rice kibble - there is enough for next week but I don't want to push it -
Happy Saturday EvFURRYone!
