Some thinking from the latest Falcon Wire
4/7/2021 :: News from another PA nest site
Another peregrine falcon nest site within the Commonwealth has experienced a change in resident adults in 2021. For 20 years, falcons have been nesting on the Cathedral of Learning located on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Recent reports indicate that a female peregrine falcon began showing up regularly in 2019 and drove off the resident female. In 2020, a new male arrived and thwarted nesting attempts by the new resident female and the long-time male. In February of this year, this same male that interrupted nesting last year displaced the resident male. Now these two, younger falcons have four eggs in the nest. This is another example of how the resident birds at an established nest site can be replaced and thereby continue to keep a site productive.
Lord PF is thinking he's been doing his part -
I mentioned going to pay my per capita tax on Tuesday - it's always a welcoming warm place in their backyard -
Then I headed thru Mt Wolf - passing The Governor's Family home - and got to see one of The PA State Police's good looking GSD K-9's!!! - then on to Manchester -
In NAK's honor, I chose KhatPotPie for my first lunch (and dinner) of 2021 -
With some chocolate peanut butter KHAKE to go for dessert - or was that Tuesday evening's dinner ;-)
