3/12/2020 :: First Egg of 2020!
Today was the day for the arrival of the first egg of the 2020 nesting season! Sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 this morning, the resident female peregrine falcon, 48 A/E, laid her first egg. We suspect the next egg should arrive around Saturday. Historically, 48 A/E will lay four eggs, but past results are no guarantee. Normally, peregrine falcons lay between two and four eggs that are creamy white covered with rich brown markings. Five to six eggs are not uncommon. Mark your calendars, incubation takes 33 to 35 days. Thus, this first egg should hatch around April 20!
