3/4/2021 :: Time to Start Watching for Eggs!
We have some interesting news to share from the Brandywine Building in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1992, the US Fish and Wildlife Service installed a nest box on this location. The current female, who hatched on the Rachel Carson State Office Building in 2008 and began nesting in Wilmington, laid the first egg of 2021 yesterday. Generally, the RCSOB nest is a week behind, suggesting an egg could be laid at the Harrisburg nest site within the week.
In 2021, determining the dominant male has been difficult. At this point, it appears W/V has retained his role as the dominant male. Considering W/V is 18 years old, this is a remarkable achievement!
