Monday MOMday

A shot of me
make that TWO of me! Now, woo khan have it Mom!

Thanks Khyra!

North to be able to catch I81 for Hagerstown

I passed this gift wrapped helicopter just before Carlisle

And some YELLOW for MURRAY just before Greencastle

This YELLOW for MURRAY was in the McD's parking lot!

Olivia - this is before we pulled out to head back to PA

Shortly after getting back on I81, she decided to come nap in the shotgun spot - and help with the shifting duties!

She was a beauty - so sweet - and soft - I think I stroked her most of the 100 or so miles we were together

One state closer to what will be a FURever home - she's come along way from Romance AK -

We know that RESCUES so do MAGIC!

*

ShyTai and Bandit

I told her the weather didn't require us to engage the 4WD but she was ready just in case!

Bandit showing his opinion of NOT getting to be shotgun - he was crated for everyone's sanity - including his own - he was quite the curious fella - and probably would have checked out every square inch - and then some - of the vehicles - he was always processing what he was encountering!

ShyTai was listed as a Chi-Corgi mix; Bandit was a Cattle Dog -

Olivia doing her GSDoughnut

Around Newville, more YELLOW for MURRAY
BTW, THERE WILL BE SOME VERY VERY SPECIAL YELLOW FOR MURRAY PICS ON TUESDAY - TAKEN BY ANITA - THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR FOR THIS RUN!!!

*

A soulful sadness - yet still a gentle one - once upon in her life, she had pups - that was evident by her - ummmm - figure

*

*

No trek to the EarthLink Building this weekend - the driver I was meeting was taking the pups to their rescues - LaMancha and Greenmore Farm
and would be travelling from Strasburg Lancaster County - so we met in York - next to Khyra's B&B -

*

No shot of Harrisburg - but just pretend you can see another mile - on the left you'll see it!

She knew how to keep the nose warm too!

Back down the hill towards York

One last shot of Bandit - he had a chain leash since he viewed cloth ones as chewies - his foster Anita said his teeth severed them like scissors - she had actually seen him do it right before her eyes - another reason he was crated - tethering would so NOT have gone well!

Mission Accomplished!!!

It was such a rewarding transport - all three were such posterdogs for the awesome work RESCUES can do! I was particularly touched that ShyTai felt comfortable enough to get out of his clubhouse - aka crate - when we got to the exchange spot in York - he had shown NO interest in Hagerstown although he was given the opportunity - but when I approached the crate in York, he stayed at the front of it - and when I reached for the latch and the leash, he was SO wanting to feel some PA grass under his paws! I think the Zen of The Xterra had let him know it was all good!

I've copied and pasted some of the messages exchanged over the weekend - it gives some background info about these special canine souls - and provides proof of how special their rescuers are - especially ShyTai's! The first is the info from the run sheet

Sweet Shy Tai was abandoned and living in a tool shed in a cemetary with his friend Luke. Luke has already traveled to LaMancha but Shy is LOST without him!! Shy is traveling to be reunited, and hopefully adopted as a pair with Luke. Gorgeous Olivia was found as a stray and was shelter bound. Luckily rescue was found for her at LaMancha before this happened. Sweet Bandit found himself a resident in the Sullivan County, Tennessee Animal Shelter until his unique face caught the attention of Julie at Greenmore Farm. He was busted out of the shelter the morning before his time was up, and is on his way to Julie to find his forever home!!

Hey! THANK YOU, Anita – for keeping things running smoothly. I appreciate each and every one of you for being on board today for Olivia and ShyTai, and for banding together to help Shy through this transition. Up until two weeks ago, Shy had no previous exposure (that I know of) to interstates, city sounds, etc. The majority of his life is assumed to have been in a rural, semi-mountainous area that is sparsely populated – I can confirm that was definitely the only life he had for the past year while living in an implement shed separating a small town ball park and cemetery off a rural road near me. I trapped Shy on Christmas day, after 4 weeks of slowly gaining his trust during daily feedings on the cemetery grounds. During the past month he has really blossomed, but he’s still taking some baby steps that cause him to regress – this “big adventure” to the Northeast being one of them. You have my utmost appreciation for keeping him safe along this route so that Dru and her people can take over where I left off in the rehab process. In an ideal world, you would have seen the ShyTai I have come to know and love (mutually – he’s quite affectionate) but for now, simply letting him peer out at this new world from the safety and confines of his crate – his portable sanctuary. --Joy

Good Evening Everyone,
Shy has been reunited with Luke, and Luke was delighted to see him!! Thank you for being so kind and caring and watching out for Shy on this journey. Joy, most of all, appreciates it, and Shy and I do too! The past two days were a HUGE step for him, and he did it!! In a crate, but still it was huge, and he DID it! As I sat quietly with Shy on my lap at overnight last night I thought where he had come from and about Joy and the effort she put into saving him and Luke. Thank you Joy for all you do.
We all fell in love with beautiful, elegant Olivia. No doubt she will be in her forever home very soon! I wish everyone on the transport could have met Bandit. He is an adorable, sweet little boy and I am certain he will find his family soon as well. THANK YOU for helping us get them along their way, and for all you do every weekend to help dogs in need.

Thank you Dru and LaMancha, and Julie and Greenmore Farm for helping these great dogs, and for finding the perfect place for them to call HOME!! We are all looking forward to their forever stories!!
Have a safe and happy week!
Anita Campbell
