Watchin' & Walkin' Wednesday

And speaking of WATCHIN', here's the latest from The Falcon Wire
5/4/2021  ::   Getting Ready for Watch and Rescue
The loss of the fourth hatchling emphasizes the fact that the mortality rate for young falcons is 60 percent. Approximately six out of every 10 falcons hatched will die in the first year. Unfortunately, Falcon Cam followers witnessed this firsthand this year. But the three remaining young hatchlings will grow up fast, and our Watch and Rescue program will be ready to help them out!

The peregrine falcon nest site located on the Rachel Carson State Office Building boasts a long history of a success in terms of productivity*. Since 2000, this site has seen 93 eggs laid with 78 successfully hatching. A key component of this success is the Falcon Watch and Rescue program! Due to the efforts of this primarily volunteer organization, fledglings are often rescued when they get themselves in difficult situations. Urban nest sites feature a lot of human activity that are a threat to survival. These threats include traffic, trains, electric wires, tall buildings, and more. Watch and Rescue can often reduce these dangers, emphasizing the great service these volunteers provide on an annual basis. If you are interested in this unique volunteer opportunity, please contact ra-eplearningcenter@pa.gov.

* Productivity is defined as the total number of young fledged or raised to the age of fledging in a defined population or area.

SUNday's walk -

We only did 'The Block'

But on Tuesday, we did The Khondo Route -

A Golden Goober!

And it did come off prior to going inside for TOAST - we'll share The Toasting here tomorrow -

It was a nice day - despite the 'Loss Of Dad Cloud'

I did some ROTE Leg Up for khoffee beans, CVS for CVS stuff, Ace Hardware for a new fluorescent light tube, THEN to Bob The Khat for lunch - sharing THAT yum here tomorrow as well -

We would like to thank everyone for the kind words of support HERE and on FB - I know we are far from the only ones to lose a parent - so we know all know the pain - and yet relief when the end does finally come -
I will try to get by and PAWSonally thank all for the support and comfort -

Yes, THAT day again - oh well - come on Saturday night!

Happy Cinco De Mayo EvFURRYone!

H&K,
All Of Us At NAK's Khottage
