Tuesday Telling

Say HI to Spark - they were finally able to read his bracelet info - and found out he's from Cleveland!

The Doggy Nanny helped me get these fur Mom

Auntie Di, Khousin Ab, Mom, and I got this fur The Doggy Nanny - we'll share another pikh once we find the perfekht spot fur it!
Mom made dinner fur The Doggy Nanny and Fred - I khounted three plates - wonder why there weren't FoUR of them?  Mom tried her best to be artistikh with her presentation of the skhallops, wild mushroom risotto, and Brussels Sprouts - she took pikhs of all three plates but I'll spare woo!  I was rewarded with some of the Brussels Sprouts - raw and khooked!
My Monday khonsisted of LOTS of this
Bekhause we had lots of this - it started by 730 or so Monday morning - bummer!

Speaking of bummers, I'm going to let Mom take ovFUR now - there are some Siberians in The Cheese State that need our help -

Thanks Khyra for letting me take control of the post - and for the furry nice AGJ glasses!

I had read about the Wisconsin Siberians before hitting the road for Hagerstown - and whilst on the road, our Golden Retriever pals Sophie and Hamish had their hu-dad write me about it - I was already planning to include something about it HERE today -

Here is an email received on SiberNet from Mary Beth  with Adopt A Husky in the Chicago area

Hi folks,

As you heard, there was a large impound of 68 purebred Siberian Huskies in
Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  Howl N Wind Siberians was raided and the owner, Don
Smidt, (along with Denise Cwiok who was not on site) surrendered the
Siberians.  You can read details here:

I am sure that as they continue their investigation more details will come
out, but for now, we just have to have patience that the authorities are
doing their job in gathering evidence.

The dogs are all doing well under the absolutely expert care of the Fond du
Lac shelter.  I have been involved in many impounds and I can honestly say I
have never seen a group respond so fast, so well and so thoroughly as the
FDL shelter has done.  Yes, they are overrun with Siberians but they are
making it work (with long hours from every worker and volunteer) and the
dog's medical needs are all being met with a speed I am astounded by.  When
we were there, every dog had been evaluated already by a vet, inventoried,
given rabies vaccinations, and HW/Lymes tested.  Grooming was next and due
to many volunteers, they were getting through them pretty well.  This
shelter, and the manager in particular, are very knowledgeable about the
breed and understand that shaving a Siberian should never ever be done.
They are trying their best to get the embedded feces and urine out of the
coats through grooming but I can say that some will have to be at least
partially shaved.  There is no way around it.  They know it is not best but
some of these dogs are in such atrocious conditions that there is no other
option.  After they are groomed, every one will be altered and vaccinations
completed.  Think about the scope of this-how can you do all of this for 68
dogs???  But they are.  And doing it well.  I am just beyond impressed with
this shelter.

Wisconsin is pretty amazing in that the shelters work together to move dogs
and help each other out whenever possible.  When we got there Sunday,
several dogs were already earmarked to move to other shelters.  Once these
dogs are fully vetted, I imagine many will be moved throughout the system.
Adopt a Husky took 7 Sunday, 5 of which are at the vet as I type getting
altered.  We will go back up Wednesday to get 7 more and get them vetted.
That is the plan for the next week or so-get a batch, get them vetted (and
thus ease the burden on the shelter to have them vetted) and moved to our
AMAZING volunteers who are opening their homes in vast numbers to take in a
foster that they normally would not have.  The dog, while underweight and
malnourished, seem to be very sweet and friendly.  A couple shy ones, but
most are wiggly and outgoing which should make placement easier.

So, how can you help?  Obviously the shelter needs money.  It is a huge
burden to get these dogs healthy and then even more money to keep them that
way.  If you can donate, please do so directly to the shelter here:

The shelter should have dogs available for public adoption perhaps by the
weekend or early next week if anyone is local and wants to add to their
pack.  If you are in the Chicago/Milwaukee area and want to adopt, feel free
to fill out an application with us at www.adoptahusky.com   We'll have the
first batch of dogs available this weekend as well.  Or even better, if you
are in the area, please come out to our Husky Hike this Saturday and meet
all these dogs in person.  We will have all our fosters out at the Hike and
available to meet the public.

Thanks for all your support!

Oh my goodness....I do so hate to read about these sad situations that these innocent furry creatures are in. It is just awful!!! I am so glad that the shelters are able to process them in such great numbers, but I guess they are very good at what they do. Thank goodness for that. All who rescue have a special place in heaven. xo Jeanne, Chloe and LadyBug

Y'all gotta know that Fon du Lac is not a big city. In fact, it hardly qualifies as a big TOWN. Kudos to all involved in this, we will be making a donation later today, after the muzzer checks the green paper count in the bankie thing.

Mom was drooling over that dinner, especially the scallops. Yummers. Cool pressies for all.

We are going to see if we can send some green papers to those poor pups in Wisconsin. So sad.

Those birds look like they are getting a bit wet. Rainy days are for ducks, not falcons.

Oh my goodness! Meowm read a story this morning about a place with over 50 woofies, and kids and the place was a mess and, well you know the usual. We just hate that people continue to be so brainless! We will be purring for these woofies to get all the help they need and to find great furever homes!

The dinner looks yummy! Our mommy loves scallops but Daddy doesn't and since he cooks, we don't get any. Can we come share?

It's very sad about those poor Sibes in Wisconsin. It gave Mommy chills since it reminded her of the raid on where I came from. All these years later and it's still happening. These people need to be educated so no more woofies go through those conditions! We'll see what we can do to help.

Woos,
Sadie

OK, now I better make sure momma reads your blog tomorrow and lets me comment instead of doing that MAAR thing because it is for a good cause, right?

You know what? Not only is it fun to watch the baby birds, but we can see the weather what is coming to Master Chew Sits.

Slobbers,
Mango
