Mom wanted me to share some words about one of her recent passengers

Hootie from the transport on Sunday March 14

Hootie was adopted today (MARCH 21) by a family with a 7 yr old daughter (Lori, thank you & Salem Animal Rescue League so much for rescuing him). Thanks to ALL of you for your help in giving him a 2nd chance for a GREAT life. Whoever nicknamed him "the mouth from the South," hit the nail on the head.

For those of you who may not know his story, my original plea for help is below. And no, my brother-in-law has not even once asked about his welfare since turning him over to me. Unfortunately, we can't pick family.

March 7, 2010:
Hootie is a 16 week old treeing walker coonhound mix. At eight weeks, his life was in the mud at the end of a chain attached to bumper of a semi. He was purchased for $40 and given to my brother-in-law for Christmas. We all know how horribly unfair it is to "gift" someone with a 12-15 year commitment with out the person's permission and it's the dog that suffers.

My brother-in-law decided over the last 8-wks that he does not want Hootie and posted him on Craigslist. I was able to convince him we could put him on Petfinder and find a good home. The foster situation did not work out so I'm hoping to board him at Best Friends in Charlotte for a week or two, but he really needs rescue or foster to work with him. I do not know that BF has space and I am currently unable to foster.

Hootie knows "sit," "lay down," and "come." He is a typical puppy in that he jumps and play bites; he's very curious. He loves giving kisses. He counter surfs and has been known to turn over trash cans - two things I did not know until last night. He's close to being house- and crate-trained, but not 100% yet. Because he's used to being with someone during the day, he has an anxiety bark if you're out of his sight. After about 15-20 mins in the crate, he quiets down. He is very smart, he just needs proper training and he will make a fantastic pet.

He's had his vaccs & rabies, but my brother-in-law did not send his vet records so I'll have to get those done again. I'll also have him neutered. He has 6-months of Heartguard.

If you can rescue or foster, please contact me directly. If you cannot, please crosspost! I don't want to save him from a bad situation only to take him to Animal Contol.

What did woo think of all THAT? Mom got that email Sunday evening and knew straightaway Hootie would be making an appearance here today for TTT Thursday! He has so much to be thankful fur and I know we are thinking of soooooo many thoughts now too - grrrrrrrrr
When Mom got the email she did reply (and admit) she had been the one to nikhkname him THAT!
******
Even Merdie got to thinking - she had her people use her iPhone to send this pikh with this message "Just thinking I may have missed one of them fun walks today"

I pawed bakhk "Yes, two of them" and then sent this pikh I had Mom take of me on the sekhond walkMust find Merdie - Must find Merdie - Must find Merdie

Mom enjoyed getting to read that so many others have had the same 'fun' with moving pikhs around on Blogger - she's heard it is a bit easier with Firefox but I use IE for pawing my blog AND Firefox fur my GooglieReaderieThingie. Even though she's a Virgo, she has learned to let go of making sure the pikhs are properly placed which is a good thing fur it means I get my walks sooner!

See all of woo here tomorrow fur FrEYEday SkEYEday with the pawtential fur some FUR fur ME!

IMPORTANT: MERDIE AND I ARE SENDING LOTS OF GOLDENSIBE VIBES TO PACO - PLEASE DO THE SAME!!!

Khyra & Khousin Merdie By Proxy

Trading Merdie for birdies? I dig your pic policy. I may just close my eyes and upload & publish and see if I do any better. Bet the chances are 50/50...

Yes, we both should be thankful for the homes that we have. I certainly do not relish the time that I was a street kitty - pregnant and abandoned.

Happy to hear that Hootie got taken into a forever home.

Hi Merdie, :waving paws: !

Even with your doofus face, MFT, you are just beautiful. Congrats on your awards too.

Now you tell Miss Merdie that she isn't just missing the walks, but all the fun she has with you and your Mom and the DN and Fred. She just has to find her way back.

We are giving a big hoot and holler here for Hootie's good news. And a good part of that happy ending is due to your Mom's help.

Thinking how lucky we are and thanking at the same time that we have furiends like you.

That is an awesome doofus face. I didn't think you had it in you. Momma was watching that bird and she looked like she was going to lay an egg, but then she didn't.

Hey! I still have your walkie Wednesday movie in my DVD queue. Momma has had the busy brain and is making me save it until we have time to enjoy it.

Glad to hear such a happy ending to Hootie's story - he is such a cutie!

Glad you are enjoying reading about our PF. I was worried for Scout after Orville died and I hope she is happy with her new "husband"! Orville was a very good dad and husband too.

I will check out the WildDingo blog!

Hi Khyra
We liked your 'doofus' face and your 'thankful' face!
Guess you just can't go wrong with a face like yours.
We are also thankful to hear the news of Hootie. He is a handsome pup and we were so sorry that anyone would gift a pup!
We have a logo on the car from Dogs Trust which says 'A Dog is for Life not just for Xmas'.
You may have similar over there but everyone tries to get the message across that a dog is a serious commitment.
Anyway that was you got our mum started!!!
Maybe cos we just met the cutest 4 month old Westie pup when we were out our walk.
The lady is fed up with his cos he isn't toilet trained!!!
Humans - eh!!!
Congratulations on your great Awards.
Have a lovely day.

Why why why do people thoughtlessly give pets as "gifts"! So happy for a happy ending for Hootie. Every pet is worthy, they just need love and training and they are good to go!

At least your BIL did not take Hootie directly to animal control, but Craigslist???? Horrors!!!!

Nice to see Merdie, I am sure she misses her Khousin!

Khute pic of Khyra! xoxo
