Thanking, Thinking, Thoughtful Thursday

Mom and I were so EGGcited! Just prior to going fur our sekhond walk on Wednesday, Mom chekhked the site and was able to snag the pikh of the five egg-a-migos!
This was about the time Momma PF had just introduced Egg #5 to the world - the state's site said around noon and as you khan see from the timestamp, this was just after that!
A good bit of Tuesday afternoon both Momma and Dad hung out napping - you khan see Dad's head on his shoulder
Awake now!
******

Tuesday was Fred's Birthday!

Mom and I gave him a khard with some skhratch off lottery tikhkets - bummer was he didn't win anything on them

His khard - this was one of the trikhks I taught Merdie whilst she was here at Khamp Khyra (or is that wishful thinking on my part?)!
******

The rain let up enough after dinner Tuesday evening so Mom and I went fur a walk - the khloud khover messed with Mom's flashie beastie exposure but woo will get the idea - and you'll also be able to see some of the lovely mud I had dekhorated myself with from my time playing sponge

*

*

*

See what we mean about the khlouds messing with Mom - these pikhs were all in sekhwence!

And on Wednesday, we had SUNSHINE!

She brought my breakfast out to me - and I akhtually ate it without extra 'preparation' - I do have an assortment of biskhuit pikhs to share 'soon' - we had been going to do that on Tuesday BUT the emergency ROTE was rekhwired to stop Mom's phonefruit withdrawal!
******
And speaking of SUNSHINE

THANKS TO ALL OF WOO!!!
******

This khame from CRITTER ALLEY - please chekhk it out if woo haven't already been there!!!
It was furry special of them to mention our reskhue work! As we've pawed in the past, transporting the lukhky passengers is the easy part - the tough part is being on the ends that find the dogs in need and then place them fur furever happiness. We are just glad to be able to do something. We'll do our best to do what we khan whilst we khan!
******

This one khame from two FURRY FURRY special khanines who have made khwite a difFURence already despite their youth: Ruby and Toby - akhtually Toby also paw-sented me with the Sunshine Award too. If woo haven't visited them yet, please do! They are going to make such a difFURence in so many lives due to the great work they do! Toby will soon be leaving his raiser and returning to skhhool fur more training. Please stop by and wish him lukhk!
******

I also received another special award and mention from Twix...please stop ovFUR and read her blog fur the details.

Thanks SOOOO much Twix!!!

I hope all have a great TTT Thursday!

See woo here tomorrow fur FrEYEday SkEYEday Free Fur All!

  60. Hey Khyra,
Peek-a-boo I don’t see you, because it’s me, Radar, the blind Bumpass Hound. I’m a red Golden Retriever but not quite like other GR you know. I was born in a puppy mill, blind at birth, with no tail (only a nub) and sinus cavity defects. Of course I wasn’t gonna be bringing in any big bucks at sale so I was definitely headed to a puppy mill death by drowning or being shot. Fortunately, one of the workers asked if they could have me, strictly to save me from a certain demise. I was then shuttled up to Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary where Ms Carol took especially good care of me. I think she wanted to keep me as a house pet, However I got really sick one night and Ms. Carol recognized it as Parvo Virus so she took me to a vet and I was put in isolation. I had a very dire week and almost died. But I survived and got stronger. After about 10 days I was ready to leave the vet and it was with a prognosis to survive Parvo, a rarity for a young pup like me. Unfortunately Ms. Carol couldn’t take me back to AHGRR because Parvo is highly contagious and I had to be quarantined for 8 weeks. AHGRR didn’t have any quarantine facility back then (they’ve since built one with donation money from people like you) and I would present a risk to all the other dogs. Ms.Carol called mom and Dad even tjhough she knew that they had lots of other dogs living here. Ms. Carol thought that mom and dad might know someone else that could take me to quarantine. Mom and dad said that since it was spring tome and the weather was nice that they could set up a chain link 8′ x 6′ kennel inside the big 3 car detached garage that was well away from the house and dog paddock. So mom and dad drove up to the vet in Charlestown WV and checked me out of the hospital and brought me down here to quarantine. Of course after the 2 months in kennel quarantine and all of the special attention that I got I wasn’t about to be going anywhere else. So I became a Bumpass Hound and was really rescued from death. So I’m definitely a rescue dog and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”

  61. Hey Khyra,
I’t’s me, Homer J., the oldest of The Bumpass Hounds. I Was the shelter dog in a kill shelter in southwest VA but my time ran out and some nice people at the shelter shuttled me up to Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. Mom saw me on the AHGRR Pet Finder list a few months after Chance went to The Rainbow Bridge. Mom says that I’m not a replacement dog but there was a “Vacancy” sign at The Bumpass Hounds Motel and I was welcomed to take up residence , so I did. So, I’m a rescue and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”

  62. Hey Khyra,
It’s me, Sophie (Sofa-dof) the alpha bitch of The Bumpass Hounds. In June of 2008 I weighed a startling 150 lbs. I was scheduled for a transport from Charlottesville VA up to Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. Dad was gonna do the transport. He picked me up on a Friday night and was gonna take me up to AHGRR on Saturday so I was gonna spend a night in The Bumpass Hounds guest kennel. When dad saw how “fat” I was he decided that he had to call mom and warn her before we got home. Mom was very upset that anyone would let me get so fat. My medical records chronicled my weight gain from a 2 month old pup to what the vet’s described as “morbidly obese.” Mom said that I looked like the Goodyear blimp, a beached whale or a manatee. I was not vey active back then like I am now. Mom and dad decided that I would not do well in a shelter and that I needed personal attention to get my weight down. I was put on a diet to lose 1 pound a weeks but I did better and in about 11 months I was at 75 pounds. Of course mom and dad fell in love with me and I never did make it up to AHGRR so I was changed from a AHGRR foster dog to an adopted dog. That makes me a rescue dog and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”

  63. Hey Khyra,
Jack here. I was a young pup that had 5 homes before I was 6 months old. No one seemed to realize that dogs aren’t allowed in college dorms and that being the custodian of a live dog isn’t a sorority or fraternity hobby. I was on my way to yet another place to live when mom and dad stepped in and said I would only get one more home and it would be my forever home as a Bumpass Hound. I packed up my baggage that I had collected in my short life and brought it along with me. Over the years I’ve unpacked my baggage and only have a few small pieces left for mom and dad to manage; and they do it well. So even though I never made it to a shelter I was saved from a miserable life style. That makes me a rescue dog and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”
    - Jack

  64. Hey Khyra,
It’s me, Abby from The Bumpass Hounds. Me and my canine mom were picked up wandering the streets of Atlanta. My canine mom was evidently a purebred Golden Retriever but my canine dad was something else; probably a lot of yellow Labrador Retriever. Anyway we were taken to a shelter and started a trek northward to keep from being euthanized. Somewhere along the way mom got adopted but I didn’t look like a Golden Retriever and ended up at Almost Heaven golden Retriever rescue and Sanctuary. Mom saw me on the website and called Ms. Carol about adopting me. I was in a foster home and the people weren’t sure thay wanted to give me up but they let me go back to AHGRR. Mom and Dad and cuzin Caitlin came up to rescue me from the shelter. That makes me a rescue dog and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”

  65. Hey Khyra,
It’ the Bumpass Bag lady, Shiloh. I’m a Newfoundland Landseer dog and I weigh about 160 lbs. My brother Max moved from our breeder to live with Mom and Dad as a Bumpass Hound but I went to Cheasapeake, VA. Things worked out GReat for Max but not so good for me. The people that had taken me didn’t realize how big and strong I would get and I grew so quickly that I developed OCD in my front shoulders. When I was 6 months old I was returned to the breeder but because of my afflictions and supposed behavior problems I would not be kept by the breeder. The breeder remembered mom and dad taking Max and called them to see if they would consider taking me or they’d have to dispose of me. Of course mom and dad drove all the way back to the breeder and picked me up. I had difficulty walking but dad managed to get me into the Suburban. Doc Witter x-rayed my shoulders and confirmed the OCD, but mom and dad decided to try restricting me (crate) for a few months to see how my OCD progressed. They also started me on Glucosamine, Chondrotin and MSM capsules. After about 6 weeks a could walk again pretty well and with only a slight limp. Now I’m as good a walker, swimmer and runner as Max is. I also didn’t spend any time in a shelter but I was rescued from a very uncertain fate to become a Bumpass Hound. That makes me a rescue dog in my book and "Rescue Sibes Rock" & “Rescue Dogs Rock.”
