Monday MerdieMe&MomDay

Look who snagged her dad's iPhone and sent some pikhs
Merdie
Merdie grinning and bearing it!
Merdie's younger bean is way way way BIG into wrestling!
Looks like all the moves wore Merdie out!
When she sent these, I pawed bakhk she'd be on the blog fur all her fans have been asking about her!
This is a view of me Mom sees khwite often - she looks out through the LACIE khurtain and sees me - on my snow - in my Siberian nirvana!

Time to let Mom tell woo about Sunday's pawesome passengers!

Thanks Khyra - yes they were very special pups!Gunther and Helga Sorcha showing some love to one of the friendly McD's staff - he came out to empty the trash and came over to see all of them - his earrings were pawprints and his tatoos included paws as well - me thinks he was a dog lover! This is Dottie - she road up from VA and met her drivers before heading west towards Breezewood then onto another part of PA - she's got some special family waiting for her - she actually came from the rescue that is kind enough to house the overnights for transports that end Day 1 in the Roanoke VA area :

Dottie's new family has an older dalmatian that only has a few more weeks left. They would like for the two dogs to spend time together
(we wish them well!)Sorcha and Mugs with their McD's pal!Our good luck charm!Sorcha resting up to meet her new mom

Sorcha escaped death twice--once at the kill shelter, and next when she was pulled, found to be HW+ and mislabeled as being aggressive. Irina came forward to save this girl when no one else would. Her aggression was a joke (sort of like Cheyenne.). She's a love and has found her forever home with a (lady) lieutenant in the Philly PD! Lucky gal!

Lisa passed along this when she handed Sorcha to her furever family:

Sorcha's new people are very nice, and I swear (don't know how), Sorcha knew that Sue was her new Mom, great first meeting, something we all love to see

Mugs resting up to meet his special parents:

Mugs came from Beaufort Co. AC (South Carolina). He was available only to rescue because he had a lot of bald spots and they didn't know what it was. Turned out to be nothing and he is a happy and healthy puppy. Mugs loves to play and to be held. He sleeps great in bed but he is not housebroken yet (but he does sleep through the night). Mugs' doggie siblings whilst in foster include Aurora, a 15 pound pug mix, Bosco, a 160 pound rottweiler and 7 dogs in between. He does great with all of them. Mugs found his forever home in South Jersey--his new daddy is surprising his new mommy...with him! Judy who drove the leg where he got to meet his parents reported on FB his new mom was so happy she cried!!!

The Snow Pups!
FURRY LUCKY SNOW PUPS:
With puppies comes a big risk of illness, particularly parvo. Many rescuers won't go near puppies because of this. But, that doesn't stop Irina from rescuing these babies. Irina rescued a litter of 7 shepherd mix puppies recently. This litter was infected with parvo. She has lost 2 little girls already, but thankfully the other 5 should pull through with extensive medical care. The savings that we had established through fundraising and adoptions over the last year has been diminished on these babies.

All four of my passengers were able to come North thanks to the kindness of Irina and Her Rescue in GA
She was Mugs foster mom and shed many many tears when he left her on Saturday morning - I sent her a few pics from the road - she wrote back that's her boy AND bring him back!
Mugs watching Sorcha being One With The White - as Khyra would paw!
Sorcha immersed in HER snow!
Guarding it like some other pup I know!
The Lucky Pups prior to heading to their next stop!

As usual, I took lots of pics and videos - the pics are in this Photobucket Album Slideshow - AND the videos can be found here

As I mentioned yesterday, this run was in honour of Shari...and sadly, I rose Sunday morning to see Khyra and I had lost another friend in Poppy the Georgia 'Dale. It was such a shock to see the post for just last Sunday I mentioned Poppy's dad crossing The Human Rainbow Bridge. We are beyond words for Lana, Penny, and Patches.

Khyra and I would also like to thank Mochi and Her Mommy (Sherri) for surprising us with some green papers for a transport! Since this special run included an awesome Siberian, we chose this one for you!

Thanks to all that support rescues everywhere and anywhere they can!

Khyra will be back tomorrow!

Hugz&Khysses from Khyra's Khorner

P.S. I've had several comments left on the blog about the circumstance surrounding Shari's death being under investigation. I appreciate the information and I'll continue to look for updates when/should they become available. Regardless of the findings, it doesn't diminish the pain nor lessen the tribute many of us chose to pay her.

  6. Merdie was attacked! Oh no!
Awesome pups! You are an angel for your transport missions.
I read up about Shari and found a video about her rescue. It is a tragedy for everyone involved. The world needs more people like her not less. Such a senseless tragedy.
In case any others don't know about her work here is the video I found: http://vimeo.com/9146043

  10. Wow! Merdie is a busy dog to take care of the one with all those toys and to lay there so sweetly!

Thanks for sharing all these lovely pups. My sister is mainly rescuing pups. She and her friend took over 50 pups (after giving them Parvo shots) to several different rescues on the coast this past week. They've transported over 1,000 dogs in the past couple of years.

She said that the main treatment for Parvo is to keep the pup/dog hydrated. The vets just put bubbles of Pediasure under their skin by injection when they've gone there, and she and her friend have saved several by just continually giving spoonfuls of Pediasure every few mins. to half hour or so for several days in a row. 11. I just love the second picture of Merdie, smiling, with all her wrestlers around her. I bet she is happiest when her boys are right beside her.

Uhh, lets see, out of this batch, we'll take Helga. The name will be good, like Stella and Helga. Cute!

  14. What a great update n Merdie. She has a lot of wrestling toys to play with...I can see why she is so tired. Wow, what a great looking group of pups. Your Mom must've had so much fun on her transport today. The pups look like they all enjoyed the snow. If only there was a way to turn all this rain into snow....

Tragic news about Poppy. So so sad. It can be too much sometimes. Thanks for letting us know.

Khyra! I am sooooooo glad you got your snow. We wound up with 20 inches in our yard. It was crazy. My woofie cousin loved digging his snout in it and romping around. Then, of course, came a warm nap covered in an afghan.
Love the rescue woofie pics! They make us happy.

I tell you, I appreciate your mommy so much for wanting to help us out. I am so glad to have my fur mommy here (I think). We are interacting well, and and mommy thinks we will be fine.

Now, I need to get to all these blogs we've been missing over the excitement of the weekend. Thanks for keeping up with us.

  53. I am always amazed at your posts (I know, I don't get here as often as I should) but either way, so much info and such wonderful pictures and video too.

Merdie is a dear Golden (aren't they all?) and she simply glows with happiness.

You and all involved with rescue must truly be God's gift to the dog world for without your tireless efforts, many would not be living with loving families and giving unconditional love to them.

Chester and I both give you high fives for your work!

Thank you for the update on the transports Khyra.

But we get so happy when we see the ones who are going to forever homes.

  57. You know we are grateful and active supporters already, so, let me just say that M chuckled real loud when you mentioned Irina asking for Mugs back. See, M had to resort to mostly financing rescues, mostly, I said. (She almost fostered a sick pup this past weekend, but luckily she found a home first.) Anyway, my M is a bit of a push over and she couldn't let go which is why we're such a large family.
Our gratitude to all you angels.

  66. Hey Khyra,
Your mom just keeps out doing herself. What a GReat transport, but then they're all pretty special and amazing. How fortunate you are to have such a caring mom. We were very happy to see our most favorite Pennsylvania Golden retriever again. We all love Merdie, just like you are our most favorite Pennsylvania Siberian.
