Monday MOMday

Welkhome to Monday MOMday (Kholumbus Day Edition)Saturday morning I khame down to see that lots of my furiends had SNOW! I figured mine had to be on the way!
I got kind of bored sitting out in the yard waiting and decided a nap under my tree would be a good way to pass the time! I mean, it was 65F/18C during the afternoon - isn't THAT a snow temp?
I was STILL looking Saturday night - no dice (but we did get SOME sunset pikhs Mom will share on Friday)!
Sunday -YES, it was SUN-day!
I'm not thinking it is headed this way yet
I know we'll get some EVENTUALLY! I'm patient - I khan wait!
Here is the khool khup that was part of Mango Minor's pressies to us! Isn't it FURry nice?
Well, it is time to turn this over to Mom...she'll tell woo about the four passengers she khollekhted in Martinsburg and chauffeured to Khrakhker Barrel in Harrisburg!
******
Ah yes, another enjoyable trip along I81 (save for it being rutt season when it is best to not look along the sides of the road) with four furry special pups for The Last Resort Rescue
You can see more info about them on the page I've linked to - Please take a look at their stories so once again you will understand what LUCKY dogs these four are!
Chaz (L); Joceyln (R)
Chaz (L); Pumpkin (R)
Dahlia who became Scruffy who became Socks
Chaz
DSS and her lion toy
Jocelyn sleeping with Pumpkin
DSS
Jocelyn

******

Of course, there are LOTS more pictures AND four videos at the Photobucket Album link for them. They got along sooooo well! I did have to chuckle as we got back on I81 after I picked them up from their overnight host. I looked back to see Chaz and Jocelyn necking like two teenagers in the back of The Xterra.

DSS was sooo scared to start - just shivered and kept giving me THOSE eyes in the front seat but I kept petting her to reassure her she was safely out of Gaston now. Pumpkin surely held her own with the 'big' doggies. Jocelyn ALMOST tried to help ride shotgun with DSS - several times she thought about it but ended up snoozing in the back instead!

It was another rewarding way to spend a morning that began at 5am. As soon as I saw their happy tails and special smiles it was so worth it!

Tom (their overnight host) was also the lucky host for Akayla, Maya, Polar, and Zona at the end of August - they were his first exposure to huskies (LOL). Here is what he named this transport

I hereby name this run the "Mixture of Mutts Marching to Milford"

Thanks again for your support AND your kind words about Khyra's Khorner! It means more than we can find words to express it!

After all, it is NOT about 'us' - it is all about the special creatures that let us into their lives and ask very little of 'us' - just that we help take care of them since they can not fend safely for themselve!

Khyra will be back tomorrow to tell you about 'things' - I'm not completely sure what she's got in mind but you know Khyra! I'm sure she won't let us down!

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in Canada!

  3. Ditto to what Ben said! You are an amazing person!

Khyra, I'm afraid 65F is still a bit too warm for snow. I think you need it to go down another 30 degrees, at least.

  4. It's hard to imagine anyone using a gas chamber in this day. What a horrible way to kill the animals! We're glad some are rescued.

  5. Woo already know Momma's thoughts on your passengers so we just wanted to let you know that we're parked by the patio door waiting for the snow to start again.

  15. Without further ado - mega congrats to you and the Mom for your superb award from the Bumpass Hounds. So very well-deserved!!!!!

Khyra, we have the temps here for snow but the snow gods have once again decided to go north of us. It's not even mid-October and we have temps near freezing every night.

Mom's passengers were all so sweet - DSS is a beautiful reminder of our sweet Muffin from a few years back. Thanks again to your Mom for what she does.

  20. Khyra,

Mom is doing a great job transporting. This crew looks like a lot of fun even if they aren't huskies.

Sorry you didn't get snow this weekend. Us either. Of course it is a monumental event when we get snow.

    Miss your fluffy tail!

  21. Hey Khyra and Mom,
You are invited to download your BRAVO-ZULU AWARD IN MEMORY OF SPENCER from our today's post. It is a little ironic that your post today about yet another early morning successful transport comes on the same day that we issue only our third presentation of the coveted (we hope) BZ Award.

    http://bumpasshounds.blogspot.com/2009/10/monday-mystery-guest.html

Your millions of followers are welcome to stop over and read about why you were chosen (as if they don't already know). Youse guys are an inspiration for the rest of us to try to do our part to help homeless animals find a safe, loving, furever home. We pups and kitties have to encourage our people to find a shelter or rescue organization to work with. Find one in their area and volunteer to help out in whatever way they are able. These tough economic times are really stressing the resources of the shelters and rescues; when all else fails - send money. Anyway, we'll get off of our soapbox now and congratulate you both on your selection and we hope you receive the recognition that you deserve for what you do.

I finally got my Mom to sit down & help me catch up...

She says she doesn't know how you & your Mom post everday with all that you have to do...

I mean you have to make sure your yard is secure & that your Paw Placement is perfect & that your biscuits are in just the right place...

And, your Mom has to take care of you & keep the flashie beast ready & drive in all the transports...

Your days must be longer than ours...

  61. Khyra I think at 65 degrees there you may have to wait a while for snow still. We had thought we would get a little but it never showed up (and I admit I was glad).

And be sure to tell her mom what a wonderful thing it is she does transporting these poor puppies. She is bringing them to a wonderful life - what a great thing to do to help out!
